IDLE THOUGHTS
I’m sat on the mega bus on the way to Plymouth and busy reading your book, trying to chuckle quietly ( no chance) your book is amazing, so funny, so simple and so true.
Thank you for making my day and making this journey an enjoyable one. Don’t want to put your book down enjoying it so much!
A cornucopia of thoughts that we all have from one time to another whilst idly contemplating the world in which we live. I found the book amusing and a great read and found myself nodding along to the author’s anecdotal view of the world. One thing though, I’m not sure I would want to go round to Stuart’s house for coffee and cheesecake! This book was a real treat and raised a smile in a world full of frowns.
I really dig your thoughts on mindfulness.. i.e. enjoying the squirrels and trees instead of rushing round being miserable. Good advice that everyone should hear! Also I was really hoping you’d include your musings on guitarists, so funny and I’m very glad that made it into the book. Fingers crossed that bassoonists and tromboners don’t start showing off at parties too, ha!!
I’ve just finished reading your book. Brilliant, funny and very thought provoking.
I read your book whilst we were on holiday, such a good read and so relevant to life today. Some very comical moments which I think we can all relate to.
FANTASTIC book! I have just finished Idle Thoughts by Stuart Dorrance. I’ve smiled, chuckled, laughed very loud and said ‘Oh Stuart’ a couple of times at a certain chapter. Please do another book….x
A witty, thought provoking and inspirational look at some of the things we do automatically and habitually, opening the door to the the madness of our everyday life and helping us to be a little less stressed and a little more idle. Full of humour, a fantastic read for anyone who requires more sanity in their life!
Your book is so funny and wry in it’s observations. I feel like a brother in arms. I identify with virtually all of it! Mom has read it. She couldn’t put it down and spent the entire Sunday reading it in it’s entirety. I will be ordering 2 copies of your second book.
Stuart Dorrance`s slightly anarchic and very witty and humorous outlook on life. He speaks as he, himself, finds. He without fail questions the habits and ethics of people in general and asks questions to which he himself provides you with some brilliant answer suggestions. You will be all the happier for reading this book, Stuart shows you another path through life that you may wish to explore.
SECOND THOUGHTS
I literally cried with laughter reading this book. It turns your perceptions thoughts and behaviours inside out and sets you free from the dogma of the systemic rules that litter our daily lives, either self inflicted or otherwise. For me it’s hilarious stand up comedy in a book.
I didn’t read the first book – this didn’t disadvantage me in anyway as this ‘second in the series’ only picks up from where the last left off by giving more of the short, punchy, independent and unconnected thoughts straight from Stuart’s head to the page.
It’s a very easy read, pick it up at any time and take in as much as you want, but difficult to resist the “well just one more chapter” thoughts of your own.
Sometimes hilarious, often thought provoking and occasionally baffling you start off by thinking this guy has some pretty off the wall ideas but as I read on I identified with more and more, until I’m really not sure what eccentric means anymore.
A great book, it won’t change my life but it’s made me question what ‘normal thinking’ is.
